Summer Picnic Essentials
/As the weather warms up and the days get longer, evening picnics are a great way to spend time outdoors and enjoy time with friends and family! Whether you’re social distancing, or just looking to get out of the four walls of your home, you can make a date out of finding a nice patch of grass and some easy to transport snacks, plus a few picnic essentials to elevate your experience.
A Cute Cooler
While we love a good picnic basket, they’re not as practical as a smaller cooler and a tote for non-refrigerated items! A simple but cute soft sided cooler is perfect for throwing some cheese and charcuterie, hummus, or even sandwiches without being bulky and heavy! (Don’t worry about the wine – we’ve got a solution for that!)

A lightweight tray
You’re going to want a flat surface for placing snacks and wine glasses down between sips, just in case the ground is a little uneven! Look for a tray that’s light weight and easy to handle (like this one from Target), in case you want to pick up and move your picnic to a shady spot. We also love a neutral tray that can do double duty for setting out glasses of wine or apps when you’re hosting friends in your home!
A Sturdy Tote
Like we mentioned, totes win out over picnic baskets for us for a few reasons, including that they’re easy to store and multi-functional (sorry picnic baskets). You can throw over your shoulder if you’re walking a way to a beach or lakeside spot, and having the chilled items in a separate cooler means one person isn’t carrying everything! Of course, you want something sturdy and cute to hold your crackers, cookies, utensils, and plates.

An Insta-Worthy Picnic Blanket
Can you really call it a picnic without a picnic blanket? A good picnic blanket is a key part of your experience (and we’re not just talking about good looking)! We recommend a water resistant option so you can shake off any spills before packing up and avoid ruining your experience by accidentally putting your blanket on a wet patch of grass.
